Bad News:

As mentioned in my previous journal entry, my Windows 7 went into a system repair loop after what was supposed to be a routine system restore. I've had my laptop looked at, and the guys at the service center could do nothing except reinstall the OS. This, of course, means that I'm going to have to reinstall several programs and drivers, which is going to take a while.

Good News:

It turns out that I had the foresight to save most of my files in the partitioned drive D instead of drive C, meaning that I only really lost a few files I could afford to lose. My most important files are still there. At the very least, I am immensely relieved.

Also, since my laptop was just barely within its one-year warranty (it expires at the end of this week), having the OS reinstalled (I bought it with the OS preloaded, so I don't have an installation disk with me) cost me nothing.

I'm trying to restrain myself to prevent an all caps rant, so I'm just going to list my grievances in a simple bullet point form:

> For the past three weeks I've been so busy I've had little free time to work on my drawings or anything else.
> Now I finally did have the time and wanted to get started.
> Did so, took a short break, and looked at YouTube for a while.
> Shockwave flash crashes on Chrome and starts fucking up my other browsers similarly, to the point that my laptop slowed down. > > > Updating adobe did not help, so I decided to see if system restore would get my laptop back in order. Big mistake.
> Now my Windows 7 laptop is stuck in a system repair loop that will not end, and all of the fix options that don't involve a re-installation (and file loss) I can find on the Net don't work.
> I will try to have this laptop looked at tomorrow to see if I have any chance to get it fixed without losing my files.

Between all that was screaming and rage and complete and utter helpless frustration unbecoming a man of my age. I had to stew for hours before getting calm enough to write this without giving into the temptation of going into CAPSLOCK RANT.

As it is, I'm still quite pissed off.  At Adobe, at Chrome, and at Windows 7.

Update when I am not in heavily-restrained fury mode.

As I mentioned in the previous journal, I went on a trip to the Philippine city of Manila from my home town of Cebu on May 9. The trip lasted up until May 15. The trip was supposed to be for some family thing held on the tenth, but I think it was just my Aunt's excuse to have me, my little bro, and some of my mother's side cousins there so she could take us around some of the tourist spots in the Northern Philippine island of Luzon. The following are some selected pics from the trip from four different cameras: my own, my little brother's (actually our parents' camera), my cousin April's, and my aunt's. I'll just link to a pic thread in a forum I'm a member of rather than re-post all the pics here: www.omniverseone.com/forum/vie…

I might be gone from tomorrow until the 15th. There's this whole family thing in Manila (which is on a separate island from the part of the country I live in), and I'll be spending all that time there. I'm not sure about the internet situation in the place I'll be staying, so I might not be on much during that duration.
